Matthew Lyons – This Stuff is Sweet

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

So while checking out one of my favorite blogs (Scott Hansen’s beautifully curated blog over at ISO50), I ran across this amazing stuff from Matthew Lyons.  Its vintage. Its awesome.  It makes me want to plaster it on my walls and smile.

And So It Begins. Again.

2010 has brought a new year, a brand-spankin’ new site design, and a fresh stab at keeping a blog running. We’ll see how it goes. This new look, now version 3.0, I wanted to be a case study in simplicity.

My goals for the site:

1. Make it scalable – 1024 and up.
2. Keep it mind-numbingly simple. Nothing but the necessary.
3. Make something awesome.

First off, I wanted this site to work well with my all time favorite font, Knockout. Second, it needed to function like an online gallery space for my web projects. I felt like a heavier site could easily be a distraction. Gimme a nice grid and some white space and that, to me, is good design. Third, I wanted to rebuild a custom WordPress setup for my previously-stated second stab at keeping my blog moving. (Indeed, the interwebs truly need my musings).
