Over the summer I bought a 1974 Raleigh Grand Prix at a yard sale for 5 whole dollars. It was calling my name. This old British bike needed a new life.
The goal was to do a sweet single-speed conversion on it. No frills. Just a simple bike that looks great.
So i stripped it, gave it a matte black paint job, and then the part hunt was on. I tried to keep as many original parts as I could, but I slowly came across all the replacement parts she needed: some new white wall rims and tires, a new original crankset and pedals, a Brooks saddle, Paul brake lever, leather grips, and a sweet original Raleigh headbadge.
Well, she’s finally done, and I’m proud to say this is the result. A huge thanks to my beautiful wife Caley for these great photos:
